This question was asked to the 6th Imam (Imam Jafar As-Sadiq). His face is not shown in Islamic Art. I heard this anecdote a long time ago during my School days when I attended Summer classes conducted by Al-Haj Hassanain Rajabali, in Dubai. It’s been stuck in my head ever since.
