Sufi Comics: The Blind Astronomer
This comic was adapted from one of Khalil Gibran’s short stories. Human beings have a tendency is to identify themselves with their thoughts, feelings and emotions, ending up creating a false self image of themselves to define who they are.
If we can meditate at our inner Universe like an astronomer, we will find ourselves separate from our mind, thoughts and emotions. Thereby allowing us to pick and choose the appropriate response to a situation rather than having the situation dictate our response.

Sufi Comics - The Stranger
Imam Ali was the Caliph of the Muslim Community from 656 to 661. Like the anecdote above there are several examples of Imam’s excellence in leadership and governance. He has written an excellent piece of document which is now called as “The Richest Treasure“. It’s a letter written to the Governor of Egypt Malik al-Ashtar, giving details on the duties and rights of the ruler, taking into account the various classes in society.
The message in the letter is timeless. The United Nations urged the Arab nations to use that letter as a model. It even makes for an excellent Corporate Bible for Managers & Entrepreneurs.

Sufi Comics Good Intentions and Hard Work
Does one need to reject the material world in order to be spiritual? Can we be materially rich and also spiritual? Spirituality is not about shunning this world, but it is about participating in this world with the right intentions. God has made this wonderful world for human beings to enjoy, explore and cherish. We should not allow our materialistic desires to overpower us, but rather use the material world for a higher purpose. The above comic highlights this message.

Sufi Comics Follow Principles
I heard this story the first time when I was young during a class. I often question myself, how would I have reacted if I where in Imam’s shoes. This story has a powerful message of trusting in God and of giving importance to principles. It’s often that we tend to overlook the principles and only follow the personality.
